Holzer’s This Week in Band 1/17 – 1/20

New to the calendar – Rising Freshman Orientation, Monday, Jan. 23 from 5:30-6:15 pm at LTHS. Band shirts, jeans and tennis shoes. Please let me know if you have a conflict ASAP.

This Week in Band,

  • Tuesday – Jazz Band and sectionals begin again. Please see band calendar for specific dates/times.
  • Wednesday – 3rd Trip Payment is due.
  • Thursday – Pep Rally during activity period. Wear your GREEN band shirt.
  • Thursday-Friday – All Region Clinic/Concert for those who made a region band. Please refer to info page in your region folder.

We have a PRELIMINARY summer band calendar for 2017 available to view on the band website.  This is no means finalized, but can give you an idea of what camp will look like for planning purposes.

Please order an original of your solo ASAP if you have not already done so.  www.pendersmusic.com and www.jwpepper.com are the two best places to order from.

January-February Newsletter

Outstanding performances abound! Both the Veterans Assembly and the Holiday Extravaganza were wonderful. We raised over $600 for the Small World Angel Program. Congratulations to our 25 students selected to a region band! This is a HUGE accomplishment and we are proud of ALL students who gave their time and energy to improve as musicians. Our whole band improved from

this process.

Next year’s TENTATIVE band calendar is live on our website. Please use this calendar for planning purposes. A final calendar will be sent as soon as possible. Please make sure to purchase an original copy of your Solo ASAP. Pender’s or JWPepper are the two best places to order from.

  • Main Event Social – Jan. 13 @ Main Event 9275 Dallas Parkway, Frisco, TX 75033 (6:00-8:30 pm) – Optional event. Students will need transportation to and from. See RSVP handout for details.
  • Sectionals and Jazz Band Resume – Jan. 17 – Consult band calendar for specifics.
  • 3rd Trip Payment Due – Jan. 18 – Checks placed in safe box outside Mr. Holzer’s door.
  • Pep Rally – Jan. 19 @ LTHS (During School) – Wear Ignition shirt.
  • All Region Bands Clinic/Concert – Jan. 19-20 @ (various locations) – For those selected to a region band. See handout in your region folder for details.
  • Mid-Winter Concert – Feb. 2 @ LTHS (5:30 pm call time, 6:00 pm concert) – All band members.
  • Concert dress. We will be followed by the Frisco and Carrolton Community Band.
  • 4th Trip Payment Due – Feb. 17 – Checks placed in safe box outside Mr. Holzer’s door.
  • Solo and Ensemble – Feb. 18 @ Plano East Senior High (individual times) – More details to come!
  • Frisco Jazz Festival – Feb. 25 @ Frisco High (time TBA) – Jazz Band only.

Holzer’s This Week In Band 12/12 – 12/16

Several things to celebrate:

  • The Extravaganza was a resounding success!! Wonderful performances by all groups. Through your generous donations we raised nearly $600 for the Small World Angel Program. Thank you!! It is not too late to give.
  • Jazz Band had an outstanding performance Friday night at Safety Town – Great job!
  • In all, LTHS had 24 students selected to a region band. This is an incredible number with 26% of our organization represented. We are PROUD of ALL students who participated. The goal of the region process is to lead us out of our comfort zone and push each musician to improve. Without a doubt we have reached this goal. Congratulations to all!

This Week in Band,

  • Monday – Mr. Merrill (Duncanville ISD, SMU) will be working with students in class today. We are also honored to have his expertise.
  • Tuesday – No jazz band this week.
  • Friday – 2nd Trip Payment of $78.00 is due.
