- The next few months are going to focus on individual musicianship and improving our playing. Sectionals begin 10/31. Sectionals are essentially scheduled tutorials for band. Students will focus on their all-region music. This music is designed to push students to grow as musicians. In many cases this is the most challenging music they have experienced. Regular sectional attendance and personal training are most beneficial to students’ success in the all-region process.
- Mr. Green Masterclass – Nov. 1 @ LTHS (During class) – The legendary Texas band director will be our guest clinician during the day.
- Spring Trip Information Meeting – Nov. 2 @ LTHS (7:00 pm) – Details regarding our 1st annual trip will be discussed. Please plan to have an adult representative present from your family. Veteran’s Assembly – Nov. 11 @ LTHS (12:00-12:30 pm) – Symphonic Band only. Nice dress no tennis shoes, t-shirts or jeans. This event is open to the public. Guests please sign in through the front office.
- Frisco Community Parade – Nov. 12 @ Downtown Frisco (7:30 am-1:00 pm) – Itinerary on website. Full uniform. This is a required event.
- Freshman Region Auditions – Nov. 15 @ Clark High School (individual times) – Students selected to participate will need transportation to and from their audition. Plan to arrive 30-40 minutes ahead of time to check in and warm-up. Dress for comfort and do your best. Results will be announced in class the following day. Percussion do not participate in this event. Contact Dr. Parks with questions.
- Region Auditions Phase 1 – Dec. 3 @ Plano Senior High (individual times) – Students selected to participate will need transportation to and from their audition. Fowler MS Band Concert – Dec. 6 @ LTHS (4:30-8:00 pm) – Student volunteers needed to help with concert logistics.
- Fine Arts Extravaganza – Dec. 8 @LTHS (6:00 pm call time/7:00 pm performance) – LTHS Fine Arts will be featured. No admission but DONATIONS are requested. All proceeds will go to support the Small World Angel Program which supplies gift for local children in the community. All donations are appreciated.
- Jazz Band at Safety Town – Dec. 9 @ Safety Town (6:00-8:00 pm) – Jazz Band only. Upcoming – Please mark your calendars and bookmark
- Area B Auditions – Jan. 7 @ Coppell HS (times TBA) – For those advancing from Phase 2.

- Group picture day THIS FRIDAY. Students will need to report to the bandhall by 7:45 am to change into their uniforms. Hair should be done beforehand. This is important as we will NOT be wearing shakos (hats) for the picture. This will allow us to see everyone! Line up for the picture will begin at 8:00 am. We will be done as soon as we take the picture. This will be used in the yearbook and available for individual purchase.

All-Region sectionals will begin the week of 10/31. Sectionals allow the band to be separated into smaller like-instrument groups. This allows us the opportunity to individualize instruction and learn more material/concepts at a faster pace. Each student is required to attend their one weekly sectional.
The sectional schedule is below. Regular attendance is critical. Please relay conflicts as soon as they arrive. It is not possible to make up the material in another sectional as each instrument learns different music for all region. PLEASE schedule tutorials/Dr. visits around your sectional.
Jazz Band will begin 11/1 and meet every Tuesday and Thursday morning 7:15-8:45 am. No formal try-outs – just show up! We will gauge interest and go from there. I believe this is going to be a spectacular group!!

Words cannot express the pride felt from Saturday’s event. Our students performed a MAGNIFICENT show, and displayed maturity beyond their years. Princeton was chosen specifically due to its emphasis on 4A schools, and Saturday’s lineup included many of the best 4A’s in the state. We went toe to toe with the best of our class. With Denton HS (5A) choosing to perform only as exhibition, we missed finals by ONE place. That stings! Rather than focus on that, we appreciate the fact that our group has accomplished so much in such a relatively short amount of time. The foundation has been put in place to build a world-class program. I am proud of each and every one of these dedicated, hardworking, talented students. The future is BRIGHT!
Thank you to our parents who supported us both on and off the field Saturday. We appreciate you!! I have to thank a few individuals – Mrs. Mendez for coordinating volunteers, Mrs. Wardell for feeding us, and Mr. Probst for heading up loading crew. Most importantly, THANK YOU parents for all the support given throughout this season. You have made the difference! The bus reception Saturday Night was just another example of the love and support you have for these kiddos. That was AMAZING!! Thank you, thank you!

Since this week’s game is away, the two marching rehearsals on the schedule have been cancelled! Use this time to rest and catch up on work. You have earned it!! We are still rehearsing 10/25 and 10/26 for the last game.
Wednesday – We are hosting the Fowler MS Band concert and need a few volunteers to stay and help set-up and pass out programs.
Thursday – Pep Rally during activity period. Wear your Ignition Shirt.
Friday – Objective pages due. Please collect a signature and fill out your playing log.
